Default Hardcode html VS website programs

Hmm, so just wondering..show of hands, who uses almighty notepad for their html/website coding needs? XD I do, but my html knowledge is rather skimpy so it isn't too hard to wade through text...but the main reason I avoid programs like the plague is because I've had too many weirdo tags been added to my beautifully simple (and simplistic) html code. Like...why <strong> and not just <b>?? Why add so many <span class>s? Come to think of it, LiveJournal does that too. Sigh.

Though I must admit some of the website programs (like Dreamweaver, I think) are good to serve as visualising tools.

So, what do you use? Stuck on notepad, or using a website program/which one?

its always good to know html because if there's a problem with your coding, you want to be able to fix it. however, if you don't have enough time to finish a product, then you will want to use some kind of webediting software.

For simple HTML codes, I'd prefer to use Notepad to design the website, so that I do not need to get another software installed in my computer. Also, I've learned HTML in college and we are required to use only Notepad to write the HTML code, so I'm quite used to this. Of course I do not remember all the HTML codes, then I'll just check it out online.

Well I don't think NotePad is enough for you to design a professional website, you need to have a software for the same.

I was thinking that if I am better at coding I would choose hardcore HTML than using CMS. But since I am not that good, CMS is really helpful for me. LOL.
Though I can say that even with CMS, it is still hard for me to make a really good website.

Hi,

HTML is ever best to code/design a site and develop a require design/code..regarding modifying the contents/design always use editor software like dreamweaver/frontpage etc..,

While in CMS will complete your most of the requirement with plugins and hacks...if your requirement does not complete then you can write your own code and add it as plugins..

Thanks,

Sandeep Gandhi.

It is not always possible to learn HTML when you want to make a website.Yes,it is good if you already know it.Then website programs are a good option. You may pay professionals to design your web site also.

Good to see many designer's here, by the way i used to do all the coding in Notepad++. Most of my blog template editing was made easy that way.

Right now i switched to Dreamweaver and this is really awesome!

Notepad...I use it when I'm learning HTML. Now I move on to Dreamweaver. I've heard about notepad++ but never really use it before.
