i voted for static website, cause it take less time to set it up
i think with flash, we need more time to settle all the needs and also need more resources compared to static website

Same for me...
I'll vote for static sites too...
As it really take shorter time to load for the pages, and which I don't like to wait...

Sites with a little flash are okay, but in general I tend to prefer static sites. Some sites manage to use flash well, but most flash based websites I go to tend to overuse it and it's just annoying.

There were a lot of negative feedback even just for flash headers or banners, so if the whole site have flash stuff, that would really put people off, I guess. The same obvious reasons as stated by members here, slow loading, I don't like sound, and other stuff. It might catch my attention but only for a short while. I would go to next site as quickly as possible.

Depend.
If your site is about gaming,
then flash is good.
If your site is about reading,
then better go to static site.

Static obvouisly the main reason code is much cleaner and is much faster since flash files can take a while to download

Well it depends from one person to the another. Some like animated flash while some prefer plain and simple. For me I would go for a site having something in between not too excessive flash and must not be too plain and empty.

as long as the flash is small in size and yet very interesting, I'll like it. Often time, I'll just close the browser when it takes longer time to load that page!

Static layout is best for a website . because it is small and making website lightly and opened a website quickly. But In flash made website flash player makes it heavy and website in opened in a long time.

Flash is OK if you have a need for it. The real idea of a website is to deliver a sales message. This needs to come through.

i prefer static since it takes less time to load. also to be considered is the purpose of your site. if it is a simple site, static will be enough but if the site is a gaming site, flash is preferable.

I use static because I can't make any flash websites and with static you can still do a lot and its not that people are more happier with flash or something its just as good.

for me..intro should be in flash like home page..but the regular site should be in regular static..else it would consume lots of bandwidth and time of the user

i prefer static.
i used to have a flash intro but in time, it turned to be annoying.
even forum visitors sent me feedbacks about that flash intro.

I vote for static. It really depends on who your site is appealing towards as well. For example..

If you are appealing to the older generation then it isn't a good idea to use flash almost at all. Many people that I've known had a hard time installing flash player even though to the many people on this forum it may seem really simple.

If you are appealing to the younger generation then it may be fine to use some flash but again to never go overboard and use it completely.

You always want to design your site within regards to your customer...your site should never be based on how you want it..but what the customer wants.

i like a combination of static and flash in websites. but the flash should not be greater in percentage than static because they load very slowly. i don't like too much flash in websites. they are too "Flashy..." and i can't appreciate them.

i prefer a flash in my Personal Home Page, but need to convert format.
for playing on websites, you have many choices, such as FLV, SWF, and HTML, or WMV, AVI (as YouTube accepts).
WMV and AVI files are much larger in size, so here we are using FLV, SWF, and HTML.

oh yeah!!! that's right, for games, flash is it. hehe

but for corporate websites, minor flash would be okay. static would be more like it. or it depends on the business, too.

yeah, i like flash designs, too, piano, but not too much. the most problem would be really in the loading of the pages. they get really slow with too much flash. so there is really a need to moderate everything in the design. there has to be a balance.

I like a mix of both. Static for the content and flash for graphics/splash.

It all depends on the content and purpose of the website in my opinion. I'd rather go for a CMS type website rather than static or flash.

i agree with you... if it's powered by Wordpress or blogspot. they load faster and the themes are simple yet elegant. i have visited websites that are of these CMS types...
