What kind of backlinks will hurt your web site?

We often hear webmasters talk about building more backlinks does your web site SEO good.

I have received backlinks questions from my friend Tony.
The question are:
what if some one does the following behavior to your site.

1. created Bad Anchor tag::<a href="your site url">bad or not related keyword</a>
2. Built backlinks from or next to a bad neighbor
3. Copy your home page html and made a same page site .

Do above hurt your site? which one?
What can you to fight back?

of course they do.search engine will consider the contents around the links to your site.
so if the site which link to you has no relative to yours,this make no sense.

Copy your home page html and made a same page site is definaly the worst and follow by Built backlinks from or next to a bad neighbor. created Bad Anchor tag consider ok since it wouldnt hurt your website, just not much helps on it

Hi,

I think that backlinks from link farm sites may hurt your website. And, I don't think that built backlinks from bad neighbor can hurt your site a lot otherwise this way we can banned any good website.

Well most times if the sites to wich you are addind backlinks are totally different from your site content like suppose you are providing link to the site where there warez download links and so it will affect the site for sure.

For me, the number one that really can cause a bad baclink is the bad anchor text and building back links from or next to a bad neighbor.. Those really will hurt that may cause for your PR to drop down to Zero, worst to N/A...

Well there are many ways to see that.Just tryout google or yahoo search and see the site is on a bad impression with the mark on the side as tick or cross.You can try out other ways too.Hope this will help.

Backlinks from unrelated links may hurt your websites specially if it's banned by Google.

Another idea in this regard could be like the number of links added in quick time to a website. For example, when a site especially a newly launched one receives over 1500 links in one day, Google will easily notice that it has been using artificial link building options and techniques and hence it might penalise the rankings and placements of the respective site online.

Link Farm are those sites who sell their links to the unrelated websites also. For example in few of the blogs you can see in side 'Blogroll'.There are lot's of sites in this blogroll. These type of sites may risk to your website if you try to link your website with them.

you can check it using badneighborhoodchecker software it will pinpoint every site that is hurting your website backlinks normally they are websites that are adult and banned websites

if you are selling links that are not relevant to your site content then definitely it will hurt your site reputation if you are blogging about forex and there is a link about how to do yoga ..then your site visitor including spider bot will saw it as paid link
