Why do we use tag when we have label or category in blog?

Well, I do not really understand why do we need to define both label/category and also the tags for the blogpost. When I create a blogpost and define both of them, I feel it's a bit redundant, as they seem the same to me. I don't know how I should define them differently.

Actually why do we need to define tag? Is it easier for others to search our blog based on the tag from the search engine? How should we define the tag? Is it something similar to the keywords? If we define tags which are popular, is our blog easier to be searched?

One reason why we define tags, or labels/category is to be able to find a certain post easily by using those keywords. Which means, it will make easier for your visitors/readers to find the one they are looking for just by looking for the category or tags...

Yeah, I understand that. But since we already have the category defined for each blog post, and the visitors can actually browse the posts based on the categories, then why do we still define the tags?

If you notice, then there's no such thing as category so one thing to be able to labeled each blog post is through tags. Aside from that, they can be useful in SEO.

I'm using wordpress, and it has both category and also tag. That's why I am always confused when I'm defining them, they look the same to me.

In blogspots, tags with each post make the category or label, I think. Here we don't have to make them separately.

Hi,

Tags make search easier for visitors on your blog. If a visitors finds their needed information easily then they can think to come back to your site when he needs information at next time.

In Short, Tags make your blog user friendly.

Yes, I'm using both categories and tags in my wordpress blog. Just that whenever I define them, I feel like they are more or less the same, but now I understand better on how to define each of them.

In order that you won't be confused of the two words, you just have to remember that categories are used for the "general" term and the tags are for the "specific" ones.
